I am a Visiting Assistant
Professor of English at Oxford College of Emory University.
My research focuses on the long nineteenth-century Global Anglophone literatures, Romantic and Victorian literatures, environmental humanities, decolonial studies, and climate change narratives.
I am currently working on a book project that explores the 1883 Krakatau eruption and its impact on global literary and ecological consciousness. Through my examination of periodicals, ecological surveys, and literary representations, I investigate the bizarre and unprecedented ecological phenomena that emerged in the aftermath of the eruption, which I term "weather weirding."
My research illuminates how this catastrophic event accelerated international media ecology, heightened awareness of global ecological interconnectedness, and shaped the world literatures of the time.
